Colac Turf Club is nestled at the foot of the Otways in Colac-Lavershill Road about 3 klm from the city centre.  Formed way back in 1862 it has attracted large crowds over the years with a drop off in crowds back in the 1970’s.

The members and townsfolk rallied support when talk of moving the races to Geelong to be more financial.  In current times the club is having a huge increase in crowd numbers with a record Christmas meeting in 2005 of over 4200 people passing through the gates.

The most popular meetings now is the legendary Christmas meeting in December and the Colac Gold Cup held in February which both draw big crowds from all over the Western District and the Otways.

The club has a great grandstand with a fully refurbished function room that can seat up to 120 people with fully equipped kitchen and dance floor.  The members bar is also popular on race day along with the outdoor “Punters Bar” situated at the rear of the grandstand.  The function room is open for lunch on race days and also available for hire which is popular with engagements and birthday parties.
