Camperdown Turf Club Print E-mail

Camperdown Turf Club has been racing since 1886 and the first meeting held in March of that year with a grand distinctive iron grandstand which still stands today.  The locals have rallied to raise money to refurbish the stand as it fell into disrepair and work is expected to begin once enough funds have been raised.

The club now races on Australia Day each year with a big crowd gathering for the new feature of the Camperdown Ute Muster.  Help is provided by the local lions club for what is usually a big crowd between 1500 and 2000 people with many taking advantage of the marquee packages on offer.

The next meeting is the Camperdown Cup Day held in February with the legendary “Eat Bull Talk Bull” Australia’s biggest bull dust artist competition where contestants are given three minutes to tell there biggest and funniest bull dust story to a big crowd of over 2000 race goers.  The competition has grown in popularity with some great prizes on offer.

A free shuttle bus is provided at each meeting from the clock town in Manifold Street and leaving 15 minutes after the last race.
